BJP MLA’s Request for the Ram Navami Shobha Yatra is denied by Hyderabad Police

Citing security concerns, the City Police have cancelled permission for the BJP MLA Raja Singh’s annual Sri Ram Navami Shobha Yatra. Thousands of people usually turn out to commemorate the event, mostly Hindus, as part of the parade.

Representing the Goshamahal seat, MLA Raja Singh has denounced the judgment and said that the Congress and AIMIM parties were involved in a plot that specifically targeted AIMIM’s Asaduddin Owaisi. Singh said that he thought similar things would happen if the Congress came to power and accused them of planning to undermine Hindu holidays.

“I got a letter saying that I couldn’t participate in the Shri Ram Navami procession this year. The letter’s worrisome date of April 14th gives us little time to solve this matter,” MLA Raja Singh said in a tweet on X, the official Twitter account.

It was suggested that the procession start from the Aakashpuri Hanuman Temple and end at Hanuman Vyayamshala in Ram Koti, Hyderabad, on April 17, 2024, from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm. The suggested path passed by a number of well-known sites, including Begum Bazar, Jummerath Bazar, Puranapool, Gandhi Statue, and Anita Tower.

MLA Raja Singh requested official clearance by outlining the planned itinerary and schedule of the march in his request for authorization. The police, on the other hand, turned down the request for unclear security-related grounds.
Supporters of Raja Singh and procession participants are incensed by the cancelation because they see it as a breach of their religious rights and customs. Numerous people have voiced their dissatisfaction with the decision, pointing out that the procession is a long-standing custom that promotes religious peace and communal spirit.

However, the police insist that their choice was made with the public’s safety and the avoidance of any possible disruptions to law and order during the parade in mind. They have promised to put the necessary procedures in place to deal with any demonstrations or protests that could arise as a consequence of the cancelation.
