BJP MP’s Major Charge On Bengal Top Cop Amid Search For TMC’s Shahjahan: “Assured Him Not To Worry”

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has come under fire from BJP MP Dilip Ghosh. Ghosh claims that Sheikh Shahjahan, the party’s principal culprit in the Sandeshkhali riots and a strongman inside the party, is still at loose because of his alleged influence in delivering “votes” and “money” to the TMC.

In addition, Ghosh said that a senior West Bengal police officer was supporting Shahjahan, who had avoided custody since February 5 after an assault on Enforcement Directorate (ED) personnel.

Shahjahan won’t be apprehended since this administration is unwilling to do so. He replied, “People like him give the TMC money and votes.”

He further said that Shahjahan had met with the West Bengal police Director-General (DG), who had made sure he was secure.

“How would the Director General, who is evading the CBI, apprehend Shahjahan? Where was DG when he disappeared for two to three hours yesterday? He went to see Shahjahan and gave him the reassurance not to worry. He said, “Mamata Banerjee does not have the courage to face the people’s anger, so she is not going to Sandeshkhali.”

While traveling to Sandeshkhali to look into claims of atrocities against women, an impartial fact-finding team headed by former Chief Justice of the Patna High Court L Narasimha Reddy was arrested earlier on Sunday by the West Bengal Police.

Women in the Bermajur region of Sandeshkhali initiated new demonstrations, calling for the immediate arrest of TMC leader Ajit Maity. Maity was later ousted from his position as TMC Anchal President. Protesters connected Maity to Shahjahan Sheikh and said he was involved in extortion and land grabs.

Suvendu Adhikari, the Leader of the Opposition in West Bengal, had similar views, saying that Shahjahan’s influence over votes would prevent the West Bengal police from arresting him. Adhikari demanded that Shahjahan face the worst punishment possible and supported NIA and CBI inquiries into the situation.

Because he controls the votes, Sheikh Shahjahan will not be arrested by Mamata Banerjee’s police. TMC will lose the Basirhat seat in the event that he gets arrested. The bench hearing for CJI is scheduled on March 6. We’re hoping that the CBI will take up the matter, and that Shahjahan will go behind bars in a day or two,” he said.

Adhikari criticized the state administration for imposing Section 144, claiming it was done for political reasons to keep BJP leaders from confronting the Sandeshkhali issue. He demanded that the probe be conducted with accountability and openness.

“The only purpose of section 144 is to stop BJP MPs, leaders, and MLAs. It’s against the law. It has political overtones. Section 144 is being used by the state administration to conceal the internal situation, according to Adhikari.
