BJP’s Second List for the Lok Sabha Elections Is Ready Following Important CEC Meeting; Names Of 90 Candidates Will Be Announced Soon

The BJP’s second list of more than 90 candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections was given final form at its CEC meeting on Monday. According to the sources quoted by Jagran.com, the high brass of the BJP discussed candidates from seven states, and an announcement in this respect may be made shortly.

Together with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, other attendees at the meeting included Union Home Minister Amit Shah, party President JP Nadda, Union Ministers Anurag Thakur, Pralhad Joshi, Nityanand Rai, MP Sushil Modi, CR Patil, Telangana Party President Kishan Reddy, Leader of the Opposition in Himachal Pradesh Jairam Thakur, Himachal Pradesh in-charge Shrikant Sharma, and former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa.

The discussion covered up to 11 seats in Gujarat where the candidates are still pending. Seven seats seem to have finalized their candidates. In Madhya Pradesh, four candidates are probably going to be named as well.

There was also discussion on the names of the candidates for the 28 seats in Karnataka, eight in Telangana, four in Himachal Pradesh, and 25 in Maharashtra.

The BJP issued its first list of candidates on March 2 and included 195 names. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will run from Varanasi for the Lower House for a third consecutive term. 34 ministers from the Center and the States make up the 195 candidates, and two of them are previous chief ministers.
The National Democratic (NDA), headed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), secured 303 seats in 2019, while the oldest party managed only 52 seats.
