in the Jahangirpuri police station on Sunday, a PCR call was received about the sexual assault of a kid in a private shelter house. Accordingly, a complaint was filed under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act and Section 377 (unnatural crimes) of the Indian Penal Code, according to a senior police officer. The official said that the suspect has been detained and that more investigation is under progress.

The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has sent the city police a notice on the event and requested a report on the actions taken by September 6. The 181 women’s hotline number, according to the commission, got a call about the incident on Saturday.

The survivor has reportedly been residing at the shelter home for the last several years after his mother passed away and his father remarried. He claims that on August 31, when he was using the bathroom in the evening, an older kid who lived there sexually abused him, according to the DCW. The statement said, “He has stated that he informed the home’s manager about the incident but he did not take any action.”

The manager and other employees of the shelter home may have been charged under the POCSO Act for failing to disclose the incident to the authorities, according to the DCW, which notified the Delhi Police of its request for a copy of the FIR filed in the case. It also asked for information on any similar occurrences that had occurred at the shelter house in the past, as well as any subsequent actions.

The DCW must get an action taken report from the Delhi Police by September 6, according to the commission’s notification.
