BRS delivered Rs 50 crores that were held in escrow to the Bathukamma saree weavers in Sircilla

Of the Rs 351 crore that the former BRS administration had not paid to the weavers who had created Bathukamma sarees last year, the State government disbursed Rs 50 crore on Friday.

The authorities have been instructed by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to discharge the outstanding amounts as soon as feasible.

After obtaining Bathukamma sarees, the BRS administration failed to pay the weavers the Rs 351 crore they were due, which led to an uprising by the weavers across the state, particularly in Sircilla.

The Sircilla weavers had asked Minister Ponnam Prabhakar to discharge the outstanding invoices during their rallies. Adi Srinivas, the Government Whip, and Prabhakar had many conversations with the Sircilla weavers. They later brought the issue to the chief minister and asked that the outstanding monies be released.

The chief minister gave the bureaucrats instructions to disburse the money and make sure the weavers’ invoices were paid right away.

During the previous three months, the state government allocated Rs 47 crore towards the production of uniforms for the Samagra Siksha Abhiyan. Additionally, the government gave weavers Rs. 14 crore to buy threads.
