By the end of 2023, Apple iPhones want to have a 7% market share in India, where Android is the dominant operating system

According to the most recent statistics released on Saturday, Apple iPhones are expected to gain 7% market share in India’s Android-dominated smartphone industry this year as the tech giant prepares to introduce its flagship products to the rest of the world the following week.

In the nation, Apple iPhone shipments increased 68% (year over year) in the first half of this year.

According to statistics from market intelligence company CyberMedia Research (CMR), Apple had a 6% market share in the Indian smartphone market in the first half and led the super-premium smartphone class (priced between Rs 50,000 and Rs 100,000) with a solid 63% market share.

A rise in “Make in India” activities is expected to contribute to CMR’s prediction that the iPhone 15’s shipments in the first quarter would be around 65% of total sales.

Over the last four years, there has been a considerable surge in domestic iPhone manufacture in the nation.

Apple manufacturer Foxconn began local production of the iPhone 15’s successor at its Sriperumbudur site in Tamil Nadu quicker than ever before, giving its ambition of manufacturing in India additional boost.

Within a short period of time after its worldwide introduction, a limited number of iPhone 15 devices made in India are probably going to be shipped to other nations.

As soon as feasible, reports claim that other Apple suppliers in India including Pegatron and Wistron (whom the Tata Group is acquiring) would also construct the iPhone 15.

The iPhone 15 series is expected to increase iPhone shipments by 25% YoY.

Around 58% of iPhone 14 series units were shipped in the nation during the launch quarter, compared to 23% of iPhone 13 series units.

“Sales of its earlier model iPhones have been driving growth for Apple in India over the last several years. According to Prabhu Ram, Head-Industry Intelligence Group, CMR, “the upcoming iPhone 15 series is poised to maintain this growth momentum.”

He said, “How well Apple manages any potential production issues and shipment delays with the 15 line-up, and especially the ‘Pro’ models, will determine the success of the product.”

Sales of iPhones from earlier generations have been a major factor in the market momentum for iPhones in India.

On September 12, Apple will hold its next significant worldwide product launch, showing the new iPhone 15 series range. At the event, the tech giant is also anticipated to introduce new Apple Watch models.
