Captured at Gunpoint for Ransom, Then 800-Km Drive: The Story of the Rescue of the Faridabad Bank Manager, Two Held

The crime section of the Haryana police has recovered a bank manager who was kidnapped on Saturday at gunpoint from his Faridabad house and transported to Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh, and further on to Mathura.

The victim, Satish Kumar, was tied up by the kidnappers, according to the police, and driven 800 miles, first to Bilaspur and then to Mathura.

The mastermind behind the kidnapping is said to be Bhupendra, a former renter of Satish’s and one of the kidnappers. He and his spouse, who are accused of supporting him, have been taken into custody, and investigators are looking for further accomplices.

Senior police officer Aman Yadav said that Satish works in Delhi as a bank manager and resides in Sector 62, Faridabad, with his government-employed spouse, according to NDTV.

Up until four months ago, Bhupendra had been renting a room from Satish’s home, but he was jobless. Given Satish’s affluent upbringing, Bhupendra hatched a scheme to kidnap him and demand a ransom, according to the police.

According to investigators, his wife, Bhupendra and a former coworker at a gas station, Ravindra, planned the scheme. Prior to the abduction, Bhupendra and Ravindra kept a close eye on Satish’s home for two or three days. Because he was familiar with the neighborhood, Bhupendra was aware that the main door was always left open, even at night.

Bhupendra told the police that he committed the crime as a result of his long-term joblessness, pushing him to do desperate financial actions. Along with the money that Satish’s wife sent to Bhupendra, the police have also found the car used in the crime, a handgun, a handmade gun, and ammunition. While Ravindra is still at large, the hunt is still ongoing.

On April 21, Satish was kidnapped from his Ballabgarh home by Bhupender and an additional armed person. They took him to Himachal Pradesh and had his family pay a ransom of Rs 50 lakh.

The offenders then bargained with Satish’s family and agreed to release him in exchange for Rs 5 lakh. According to the police, they used Satish’s debit card to withdraw the money from several locations after asking his family to deposit Rs. 1 lakh in his account.

The abductors also instructed Satish’s spouse to deliver the last Rs 4 lakh near Ballabgarh’s Kelly bypass. After learning about this, the police set up a trap and took Bhupender into custody.

Bhupendra admitted to the police that he had previously leased a room from Satish and lived there for around four months after being caught. He and his buddy Ravindra, according to the authorities, came up with the scheme to kidnap the bank manager and demand a ransom.
