Checking at the Punjab–Rajasthan border has increased

Vehicles from Punjab would find it difficult to enter Rajasthan since the first round of the Lok Sabha election’s campaigning was suspended 48 hours before the polls. During the police and Special Forces combined inquiry, the process of inspecting every car started. It is now difficult to cross the Punjabi borders around Gumjal-Sadhuwali on the Abohar-Sriganganagar Road and Rajpura-Patli on the Abohar-Hanumangarh Road.

On the Sadhuwali border, a unique inspection procedure was initiated as part of Operation Border Seal. According to B Aditya, the city’s IPS circle officer for Sriganganagar, the Election Commission has given severe instructions requiring anybody crossing an interstate boundary to provide a cause. Checking was done all day today instead of only from 8 am to 2 pm as it used to be. This procedure will keep on until Friday, when the vote is finished.

Drivers entering the state are questioned by the police force. The cars with Punjab’s registration number are under constant observation by the investigative team.

Those who are not registered voters in the Sriganganagar Lok Sabha seat would be regarded as foreigners, according to police announcements made 48 hours before to the poll. They won’t be permitted to remain there indefinitely. The police are afraid that foreigners can instigate or induce anomalies in the voting process; if this happens, they will be expelled from the area.
