Chennai: Two held after a kidnapped infant is rescued

The Ennore police have detained two guys for allegedly robbing a 15-month-old child from Chennai Central Station early on Sunday morning. In a matter of hours, the infant was saved by the police.

Karthick, 26, and Selvam, 40, were both laborers in the construction industry. Sujith and Sanjana Mondal, a Bengali couple, were dozing off inside the station next to the ticket booth. Sanjana did not discover her kid in the vicinity when she awoke early in the morning. The couple notified the railway police right away,” a policeman said.

After reviewing CCTV evidence, the police concluded that the two suspects had taken the youngster aboard a local train headed for Ennore. After inquiring with residents of Ennore about the pair, authorities were able to apprehend them and save the youngster thanks to information provided by an autorickshaw driver. Following an investigation, the two were placed on judicial remand. Initial investigations showed that the two had taken the infant hostage in order to sell it at Ennore.
