Chattisgarh: Three Naxalites Died After Coming Into Contact With Security Officers

Police sources, cited by news agency PTI, have stated that three Naxalites have reportedly been killed in an encounter with security troops in the Kanker region of Chhattisgarh.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said earlier on Friday that left-wing extremism is now dying and that the Narendra Modi administration has struck the Maoists a fatal blow with a comprehensive approach to development and security.

The Ministry of Home Affairs reports that, as compared to the 2004–2014 time frame that before it, there has been a discernible decline in left-wing extremism-related violence and fatalities between 2014 and 2023.

In particular, there has been a 52% decline in violent occurrences and a 69% decline in deaths from 6035 to 1868. Comparably, throughout the same time span, there have been fewer instances of leftist extremism—14,862 compared to 7,128.
