Close aide to Kamal Nath and many other MP Congress officials join the BJP

A close friend of former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Kamal Nath and a few other opposition Congressmen joined the governing BJP on Monday, ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

The state chief of the Bahujan Samaj Party also became a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and the state director of the party, VD Sharma, Syed Zafar, a former spokesman for the Congress, joined the BJP in Bhopal.

Zafar, a Chhindwara native, was regarded as a close friend of Kamal Nath, a former chief minister and veteran of the Congress. According to his X profile, he was the general secretary of the MP Congress at the time.

Zafar, according to State Congress chairman K. K. Mishra’s media department, does not now occupy a position in the party.

There were rumors earlier this month that Nath may join the BJP, but he dismissed them as the “production of media.”

A spokesman for the governing party stated that, in addition to Zafar, other party leaders who were swayed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s social initiatives and BJP policies included BSP state chief Ramsakha Verma and MP Congress general secretary Maneesha Dubey.

Former Union minister Suresh Pachouri, former Lok Sabha member from Dhar, Gajendra Singh Rajukhedi, and a number of other Congressmen joined the BJP earlier this month.
