Concerned about the Election Commission’s “inaction” in response to AAP accusations against the BJP

The Election Commission (EC) is under increasing scrutiny amid a growing controversy over its perceived “failure” to address the AAP’s persistent protests to the BJP’s offensive hoardings that are widely exhibited around Delhi.

The EC’s apparent inaction in the face of many accusations from AAP representatives has raised concerns among the public and called into question its objectivity in supervising the election process.

Senior AAP leader Atishi expressed unhappiness with the EC’s reaction, pointing out that “no notice has been issued to the BJP so far, despite 48 hours having passed since AAP lodged a complaint with the EC against the BJP’s objectionable hoardings across Delhi.”

Atishi’s remarks highlighted a rising sense of dissatisfaction among AAP members, who expressed worries about perceived inequalities in the way the commission handled complaints from other political parties.

The dispute concerns the BJP’s placement of offensive hoardings in many Delhi sites, which prompted the AAP to take immediate action and file an official complaint with the EC to try to resolve the matter.

But in the 48 hours after the complaint was submitted, the EC does not seem to have responded or taken any action against the BJP. Concerns over the commission’s objectivity and dedication to guaranteeing fair election procedures have grown as a result of what seems to be inconsistent complaint processing. Many AAP members who are becoming more and more frustrated with what they perceive to be a lack of accountability and transparency in the election process found resonance in Atishi’s comments.

Furthermore, considering how quickly the EC responded to BJP leaders’ objections, the timeliness of the EC’s reaction has come under criticism. Atishi brought attention to this disparity by pointing out that, whereas the BJP’s complaints were immediately resolved, the EC notably said nothing about the AAP’s objections.

Sachdeva takes issue with Atishi’s comments.

New Delhi: Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva expressed surprise at Delhi minister Atishi’s constant doubts about the Election Commission’s objectivity. He underlined the EC’s standing as an unbiased, independent organization that is known for holding fair elections. He emphasized the EC’s proficiency in guaranteeing free and fair elections, not just in India but also in other nations, when domestic problems call for outside assistance.

Sachdeva compared Atishi’s comments to the actions of losing players, who cast doubt on the impartiality of umpires by drawing a comparison with sports. Despite Atishi’s pledge of loyalty to the Constitution as an AAP minister, he denounced her activities, saying that she is damaging the EC’s reputation for small-time political benefit.
