Congress approaches the EC on a mouthpiece item in CPIM. Deshabhimani

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has received a complaint from the Congress against the usage of the term “porngress” in an article that appeared in the CPM’s mouthpiece, Deshabhimani, on Thursday.

Congress state president-in-charge M M Hassan demanded that the EC move quickly to punish the CPM for breaking the Model Code of Conduct, claiming that the phrase was used with knowledge of CPM state secretary M V Govindan.

“Without the CPM secretary’s knowledge, the news would not have spread. With a cartoon, the eight-column news described every politician running for Congress as “porngress.” Hassan said that it was prearranged and that the CPM had to resort to such measures after its efforts to disseminate false information on the UDF candidate in Vadakara had failed.

Hassan said, “Now, CPM is trying to pin the blame of the fake video circulating in Vadakara on the Congress,” calling it surprising that a “INDIA bloc ally” would take such an action.
