Congress confronts former legislator Sudhir Sharma in Dharamsala for allegedly “wasting” a smart fund

Vijay Inder Karan, the Congress politician and candidate for the Dharamsala Assembly seat, chastised Sudhir Sharma today for the Smart City project’s execution in Dharamsala.

Speaking during a news conference held here, he said that Sudhir Sharma, who was first the Minister for Town and Country Planning and then the Congress MLA for the region, oversaw the implementation of the Smart City project in Dharamsala. He went on to say that Sudhir Sharma needs to provide the people of Dharamsala with an explanation for the project’s Rs 650 crore waste.

According to Vijay Inder Karan, Sudhir Sharma’s defection from the Congress, for which the locals had given him the mandate, was the reason why the people of Dharamsala were upset with him. People wanted to know why Sudhir Sharma deserted the Congress and cast a cross in the Rajya Sabha elections, he claimed. “I had travelled in the constituency,” he added.

He went on to say that Kangra was designated as the state’s tourist capital by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, who also started massive developments including the Gaggal airport’s expansion. Kangra will gain a great deal when the projects were finished, he said.

According to Vijay Inder Karan, the BJP has helicopters ready to move the renegade Congress MLAs to Uttarakhand and subsequently Haryana. But when the state was struck by the monsoon, the Union Government did not spare a helicopter for the people of Himachal Pradesh. The chief minister said that during last year’s monsoon, he gave his whole life savings to the state’s citizens.
