Congress’ Nyay assurances vs. Modi Ki Guarantee in a 2024 battle royal

There were a lot of promises made throughout election season, and the Lok Sabha elections would be no exception, with “guarantees” from all the political parties expected to fight in the loud campaign.

Narratives often win or lose elections, and the destiny of political parties is determined by the problems that resonate on the ground.

The following ten major topics are anticipated to be discussed by different political parties throughout the polling campaign:* Modi Ki Guarantee: Making ‘Modi Ki Guarantee’ the centerpiece of his campaign, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is full of confidence in his ability to win a third term.

According to the PM’s website, the “Modi Ki Guarantee” is a promise for the welfare of farmers, women’s emancipation, youth development, and all other marginalized and vulnerable people who have been disregarded for decades.

The government’s goal of guaranteeing the saturation of all assistance packages is also addressed in this proposal.

This election’s “catchphrase” is probably going to be the focal point of a lot of the opponents’ verbal sparring.

* The Nyay assurances of Congress: In the state elections of Telangana, Karnataka, and Himachal Pradesh, the grand old party somewhat regained its popularity by offering voters electorally appealing promises.

In preparation for the Lok Sabha elections, the party has made a strong case for its five “Nyay” promises, which include participatory justice and justice for laborers, farmers, women, and youth.

‘Nyay’ promises were made in front of the people during the Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, which took place from Manipur to Mumbai.

These promises are probably at the center of the Congress platform, and the party would build its campaign around them.

It remains to be seen whether it would lead to the party’s electoral comeback.

* Price increases and unemployment: The Congress and the INDIA bloc have been bringing up the issues of price increases for necessities and joblessness.

They have attempted to corner the government by stating over and time again that the primary problem is a shortage of employment.

The BJP has retaliated, pointing to an expanding economy and an increase in jobs.

The discourse around these bread-and-butter concerns would heat up during election season.

* Article 370, the California Civil Action Act, and the Uniform Civil Code should be repealed: The BJP has long promised the people these things.

The implementation of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 and the revocation of Article 370 for Jammu and Kashmir are two goals that the BJP has and will continue to present.

Prior to drafting a similar legislation nationwide, the party’s administration in Uttarakhand also approved a law on a unified civil code.

The Modi administration has shown its commitment to “walking the talk” by taking these measures.

These actions have been denounced by the opposition as efforts to enforce, establish, and divide uniformity.

During election season, there will probably be a sharper and more heated discussion on these topics.

* Ram Mandir: The Congress on the subject of electoral bonds is calling for an investigation overseen by the Supreme Court. The BJP observed the dedication of the Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 22 with great excitement.

Nobody could have overlooked the significance of Uttar Pradesh chairman Minister Yogi Adityanath, RSS chairman Mohan Bhagwat, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi spearheading the event.

The prime minister, according to BJP officials, has realized a centuries-old goal.

The effect of this is felt by everybody, with saffron flags flying throughout much of the Hindi-speaking belt to commemorate the anniversary.

The BJP has the upper hand in northern India thanks to the Ram temple, even according to the opposition leaders.

Per analysts, this ‘Ram temple tsunami’ is largely responsible for the BJP’s confidence in winning at least 370 seats.

* Election Commission Data: The Election Commission has released the data pertaining to electoral bonds.

The Congress has requested that the Supreme Court conduct a thorough investigation into the governing BJP and freeze its bank accounts due to allegations of corruption in the electoral bonds program.

It remains to be seen if the opposition’s strategy will be effective at the grassroots level, but the subject has gained attention just before the votes.

But it would undoubtedly come out during the campaign as a talking issue.

* ‘Amrit Kaal’ against ‘Anyay Kaal’: The BJP’s claim that the Modi administration promised sound governance, rapid development, and a future-focused agenda is expected to be a recurring campaign topic throughout the election season.

However, the Congress has labeled the last ten years of the Modi administration as “anyay kaal,” a time of “increasing economic inequality, rising prices, unemployment, and the capture of institutions.”

The BJP would respond to the opposition INDIA bloc’s claim that the last ten years have been more about show than substance by highlighting the government’s “failures” and highlighting other welfare programs for the poor, reducing poverty, and ending the pandemic.

* Farmers’ concerns and the MSP’s legal guarantee: * PM Modi declares at a rally in Telangana that “no corrupt person will escape.” The opposition, claiming that the government has “betrayed” the farmers and vowing to give the MSP legal protection if its coalition wins power, is expected to dominate the conversation as a result of the farmers’ protest at Delhi’s borders soon before the votes.

In an effort to allay their worries, the BJP officials have been meeting with agricultural groups and asserting that a large number of the protestors had political motivations.

The administration has also emphasized how the assistance provided by the PM-KISAN plan has improved tillers’ livelihoods.

Farmers’ concerns would be crucial to the conversation, as they are in most elections.

* Ideological clash: This election also signifies a significant turning point in what many refer to as the “battle of ideologies” between the Congress and the BJP.

The public would be presented with the ideologies of both parties, and asked to choose one.

* The Viksit Bharat vision: According to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the nation’s objective is to become a developed one.

He has said that the measures of his administration are dedicated to achieving the objective by 2047.

The opposition has been calling it “another jumla,” but the BJP’s campaign is expected to be dominated by its goal for a Viksit Bharat.

Nonetheless, it would continue to be a recurrent motif throughout the campaign.
