Congress Says to Fire Indian Envoy for ‘Single Dynastic Party’ Slant, and the Party Says to Fire Him Immediately

The Indian envoy’s statement that a “single dynastic party” is responsible for “the deeply entrenched ecosystem of corruption” in the nation sparked a strong response from the Congress, which also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his “impeccable personal character and integrity”. The Indian ambassador’s comments were described by the party as “extremely biased,” and they demanded that he be fired.

The Indian ambassador to Ireland, Akhilesh Mishra, hailed the Modi government’s campaign against corruption, which he attributed to the “55-year misrule by a single dynastic party,” prompting the party to respond angrily.

While projecting a smooth third term for Prime Minister Modi, Mishra also brought up the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and the corruption charges against opposition leaders in an editorial titled “Modi enjoys unprecedented popularity” in The Irish Times.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi enjoys unprecedented popularity not only in India but globally because of his impeccable personal character and integrity and thought-leadership on innovative, inclusive governance and sustainable development,” he said.

According to Mishra, millions of common people in India and other developing nations find inspiration in his personal life since he does not come from an elite political background.

“The fight against the deeply entrenched ecosystem of corruption (created by the 55-year rule, including first 30 years by a single dynastic party in India) is a major factor behind Mr Modi’s ever growing popularity,” he said.
According to PM Modi, the anti-corruption campaign is effective because he has granted the appropriate authorities unrestricted authority.

“There is a huge sense of relief at the grassroot level to witness action being taken and recoveries made from the rich and powerful elites who operated with a sense of entitlement of impunity.”

arguing that “India’s democracy is strong, vibrant and robust” , Mishra said, “A stereotypical description of India as ’80 per cent Hindu majority’ nation is quite misleading because Hinduism as inherently inclusive and fundamentally pluralistic.”
The Congress questioned the ambassador’s “unprofessional and disgraceful behaviour” in a swift response.

It is reasonable to defend the Indian government, but that is one thing. However, even if the ambassador is a political appointee, it is not expected of him to publicly criticize opposition parties in this way, much like a party apparatchik. Congress’s chief communications officer, Jairam Ramesh, wrote on X, calling this behavior “disgraceful and unprofessional on his part—but typical of the Modi course, I suppose.”

The senior Congress leader said, “He really should be fired immediately because he violated service rules.”
Mishra, an Indian Foreign Service officer from the 1989 batch, was sent to Dublin, Ireland, in October 2021 as the country’s ambassador. Additionally, from 2008 to 2010, he held the positions of deputy chief of mission in Kabul, consul general in Toronto, and ambassador to the Maldives (2016–19).
