De Fence Minister Rajnath Singh said that Siachen is the capital of fortitude and heroism

While visiting Siachen, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh spoke with the military soldiers stationed there. In addition to their one-on-one conversation, the Defense Minister also spent a few “sweet moments” with the staff members stationed at Siachen Glacier’s Kumar post. Army Chief General Manoj Pandey was with him.

The Defense Minister praised the troops for their unwavering commitment to the country during his remarks at the event. He praised the troops’ tenacity in defending the nation on the biggest battleground in the world.

“I commend you for the way you defend the nation at the world’s highest battlefield, Siachen Glacier,” he added. Siachen is not your typical terrain. It represents the nation’s tenacity and sovereignty. It stands for our resolve as a country. Delhi is the capital of our country; Mumbai is the center of our economy; Bengaluru is the center of technology; nevertheless, Siachen is the center of bravery and valor.”

The Defense Minister also discussed Operation Meghdoot’s 40-year anniversary during his speech. He said, “40 years of Operation Meghdoot were concluded just last April 13.” Such a military action was conducted by the Indian Army on April 13, 1984, and it is used as an example in the modern world. Every Indian has been enthralled by Operation Meghdoot for the last forty years; it is such a glorious chapter in Indian military history.”

“All of us Indians are proud of ‘Operation Meghdoot’s’ triumph in Siachen. The courage shown by our men on the highest battleground on the globe makes us proud,” he said.

Renowned for its harsh weather patterns, India places great attention on the 75 km long and 2 to 4 km broad Siachen glacier from a geostrategic standpoint.
