Delhi: Man arrested for deceiving customers by pretending to be a Lufthansa customer service representative

According to a Delhi Police officer on Friday, a 27-year-old was taken into custody for allegedly tricking customers by posing as a customer service representative for Lufthansa Airlines.

The official said that the accused, Gourab Dey, a West Bengali resident who lives in Kolkata, did the act with the intention of making money.

Ankit Singh, the deputy commissioner of police for Dwarka, said that a case was filed at the Dwarka Cyber police station in response to a complaint made by Durga Nath Raina, who claimed to have been deceived during the booking process at Lufthansa Airlines.

After receiving a number from Google, Raina called the customer support line. Later, he got a call from customer service, and after following the caller’s instructions, he installed an apk file and provided the OTP. He lost Rs 5,50,000, according to Singh.

Call detail data of the numbers used to trap customers were gathered throughout the investigation from TSPs, bank statements, and KYC information from ICICI and HDFC banks.

The DCP said, “A raid was carried out, and Dey was taken into custody following technical surveillance.” During questioning, Dey revealed that he had conspired to manufacture easy money with his buddies Abhishek Yadav, Rahul Ram, and Sahabaj Koyal, alias Badsah, in exchange for their bank account details.

They all received the same amount of benefits. He acknowledged giving his pal Badsah access to his bank account kit so he could make ATM withdrawals. They tricked consumers by pretending to be Lufthansa Airlines customer service representatives, according to the DCP, and further investigation is underway.
