Delhi Weather Update: IMD Issues A Dense Fog Alert As The City Awakes To Another chilly Morning

Delhi Weather Updates: The city woke up to another frigid morning on Saturday, so there is still no reprieve from the bone-chilling cold. In several areas of Delhi-NCR Delhi, visibility was almost nonexistent due to a heavy blanket of dense fog. It is anticipated that the maximum and lowest temperatures will hover between 19 and 5 degrees Celsius, respectively.

The national capital of India suffered from very low temperatures on Friday, with the minimum dropping to 3.9 degrees Celsius—the lowest level of the season—as the cold wave continued to encircle North India. The highest temperature was 19.3 degrees Celsius, slightly below the season’s normal, according to meteorological agency authorities.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) official website, intense fog will linger in Delhi for three to four days. The highest and lowest temperatures are anticipated to hover between 20 and 4 degrees Celsius over that time.

Many could be seen gathering around bonfires to stay warm as the cold took hold of the nation’s capital. In addition, a large number of individuals were seen seeking protection from the bitter weather at an AIIMS night shelter.

In January 2024, the local meteorological station forecasted 100% deficit precipitation in Delhi due to a cold wave, but in its extended prediction, it predicted below-normal rains for the following four weeks in Himachal Pradesh. It was said that the average rainfall from January 12 to 25 would be rather negative and that from January 26 to February 8, it would be below average.
