“Despite the drought, Karnataka is managing the power situation.”

Despite the state’s drought, Karnataka Energy Minister KJ George said that the state administration has been handling the electricity crisis properly. Speaking to reporters here on Friday, KJ George said that the state administration is ready to handle the scenario and added that the state is concentrating on solar power production in addition to the traditional means of generating electricity via hydel reservoirs.

“The construction of a 2,000 MW solar park in Pavagada was permitted in 2014–2015. Farmers in Pavagada approached us recently and offered to lease 10,000 acres of property. Madhugiri farmers have also offered to donate their land for the solar park. We’re about to get started on the project. For a 750 MW solar power facility close to substations, a tender has been released. By doing this, transmission power loss would be reduced. In the future, 3,000 MW of solar power plants would be installed in the state next to substations, he added.

He said, “We would also help the current private thermal power plant in Udupi, like Adani Power Ltd., to increase their power producing capacity. The KPCC’s KJ George, who oversees the Udupi-Chikkamagalur Lok Sabha seat, slammed the BJP and accused it of lying in order to win the general election. “I.N.D.I.A. bloc should win the elections, as decided by voters,” he said.

The BJP pledged to return illicit funds hidden in foreign banks and provide young people two crore employment annually. The bulk of the pledges were not fulfilled. Despite the enormous number of young people in India, the GDP has not grown at a rate that is satisfactory, he added.
