Deve Gowda criticizes Rahul for his pledge to redistribute wealth

Bengaluru: Rahul Gandhi’s “wealth redistribution promise” was criticized by former prime minister H D Deve Gowda on Wednesday, saying that only a person without in real world experience could make such a claim.

The ninety-year-old leader of JD(S) made fun of the Congress manifesto, saying that such a list of promises could only be made by a party certain to never win elections.

“The Congress’s manifesto contains a long list of promises. At a news conference held here, Gowda said, “The only party that is very sure of never coming to power will promise so much.”

According to him, the Congress intends to turn our nation “upside down,” and its past declarations suggest that it would stop at nothing to seize power.

“Rahul Gandhi wants to disperse riches after conducting a wealth census. Is he considering himself a mass leader? Deve Gowda questioned.

He’s having revolutionary dreams. He went on to mention the contributions made by Manmohan Singh and P V Narasimha Rao to economic liberalization and said, “Rahul Gandhi has insulted and humiliated two Congress Prime Ministers who brought market reforms and increased the wealth of the nation by talking about wealth redistribution.”

Kanakapura: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar said on Wednesday that Income Tax investigators were breaking into Congress block presidents’ homes in an effort to discredit him and prevent them from running for office.

In a statement, he said that “the IT department is conducting raids on Congress party workers deliberately in order to prevent them from campaigning for elections.” Shivakumar, the state president of Congress, inquired as to why there had been no searches on the campaigns of the BJP and JD(S), wanting to know whether they were not giving money. He said that the IT department has prepared a list of targets and they are operating based on it.

He said, “They (the IT sleuths) are specifically targeting the Bengaluru Rural district out of fear of losing the election.”

On Wednesday, Congress workers protested over I-T searches on a close acquaintance of Congress MP D K Suresh.

Yediyurappa presses Cong to choose a PM contender

Tumakuru: Veteran BJP leader B S Yediyurappa issued a challenge to the Congress on Wednesday, demanding that it announce the identity of its candidate for prime minister and identify at least three or four Karnataka seats that it believes it would win in the next Lok Sabha elections.

Additionally, he declared that his party and coalition partner JD(S) will win in each of the state’s 28 Lok Sabha seats.

Former Chief Minister Yediyurappa, a member of the BJP’s Parliamentary Board, was chatting with reporters outside the party’s Tumkur V Somanna campaign.

“”I would want to ask Congress to first nominate their candidate for prime minister and then list three or four seats that they believe they would win. They are now unable to disclose it. They are sure to lose. “All 28 seats will be won by us (BJP-JD(S)),” he said.
