Elections to the Lok Sabha in 2024: 9.2 crore people may vote in Maharashtra for 48 LS seats

According to a senior state Election Commission official, 9.2 crore people, including over 50,000 centenarians, would be able to cast a ballot in the Maharashtra Lok Sabha elections of 2024. This is a 34 lakh rise from the previous year, as reported by news agency PTI.

The 48 seats in Maharashtra will be up for election in the Lok Sabha on April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, and May 20. The votes will be tallied on June 4.

As of March 15, the state of Maharashtra has 4,78,50,789 male voters and 4,41,74,722 female voters, according to Chief Electoral Officer S Chockalingam. According to PTI, there are 5,559 transgender voters in the state.

He said that since 2019, there have been 34,69,534 more voters.

The number of voters in the 18 to 29 age group is 1,78,84,862.

13,15,166 voters in Maharashtra are over 85 and eligible to vote, including 52,908 people over 100. The official claimed that there are 97,325 voting places in the state, according to PTI.

The nation’s Lok Sabha elections of 2024 will take place over the course of 44 days, beginning on April 19, according to a statement made on Saturday by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, as reported by PTI.

He declared that over 97 crore voters—49.7 crore men and 47.1 crore women—are entitled to vote at 10.5 lakh polling places nationwide while announcing the election calendar for the 543-member Lok Sabha, according to PTI.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar announced on Saturday that the poll watchdog has launched a new mobile application called Know Your Candidate (KYC), which will allow voters to determine whether any electoral candidate in their constituency has a criminal history, prior to announcing the dates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024 at a packed press conference in the nation’s capital, according to news agency ANI.

The chief election commissioner said that the program is now accessible for download on both the iOS and Android operating systems.

The head of the election commission went on to describe the new software, saying, “We have developed a new mobile application that will allow voters to learn if a candidate seeking to represent them in the Lok Sabha has a criminal record. According to ANI, the program is known as “Know Your Candidate,” or “KYC.”
