Everything You Need To Know About Traffic, Public Transportation, And People’s Movement Restrictions For The G20 Summit In Delhi

The highly anticipated G-20 meeting will take place in the nation’s capital next month. The modern Bharat Mandapam Convention Centre in Pragati Maidan will host the Summit on September 9 and 10. In addition to the city’s extravagant décor, controlling traffic on the designated days has also been cited as important for facilitating a smooth show. To make this possible, the Delhi Traffic Police has issued a traffic advice. In its bulletin, the traffic police said that “extensive regulations on vehicular movements will be in place in the National Capital Region (NCR), especially in New Delhi District and its surrounding areas, in the interest of public safety and convenience of the general public.” The warning is as follows:

1. Uninvited cars are prohibited from entering Delhi and will be routed to the Eastern and Western Peripheral Expressways and other alternate routes.

Additionally, Delhi will not let the entry of Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs), Medium Goods Vehicles (MGVs), or Light Goods Vehicles (LGVs). Vehicles carrying necessities like milk, vegetables, fruits, and medical supplies, as well as those with a legitimate “No Entry Permissions” document, will be permitted entry.

3. Despite the fact that interstate buses will be permitted to go through the capital, all of them will end their routes on the Ring Road.

4. The buses that are already in Delhi will run on the Ring Road and the highways that extend beyond Ring Road in the direction of Delhi’s boundaries. And these buses would be permitted to leave Delhi as well.

5. All existing buses and commercial vehicles in the state are also permitted on the Ring Road and the road network that extends beyond the Ring Road in the direction of Delhi’s boundaries.

6. Three-seater rickshaws and taxis will be permitted on the roads outside of New Delhi. Taxis carrying genuine locals and visitors with confirmed reservations at hotels in the area, on the other hand, will be permitted to shuttle inside the New Delhi District.

7. Passengers may continue on their journeys to the airport, New Delhi, and Old Delhi railway stations without being impeded.

8. The New Delhi District will also permit legitimate inhabitants and authorized automobiles. After verification, vehicles that support vital services including cleaning, catering, garbage disposal, hotels, hospitals, and other significant installations will also be permitted. However, they are required to carry identification papers.

Traffic Detours

General traffic will be permitted to enter the state from the Rajokari Border, except products, automobiles, and buses. Additionally, traffic from NH-48 will be forcibly detoured to Rao Tula Ram Marg – Olof Palme Marg. No vehicle movement will be permitted on NH-48 in the direction of Dhaula Kuan.

From September 7 to September 10, local municipal buses, including DTC buses and DIMTS buses, as well as goods and commercial vehicles, will not be permitted to travel on Mathura Road, Bhairon Road, Purana Quila Road, or within the Pragati Maidan Tunnel.
