Farmers in Punjab are concerned as rain is predicted until April 25

The meteorological service has extended its prediction for the current period of rain across northwest India to April 25, which has many farmers concerned. The weatherman had forecast showers and thunderstorms for the area until April 21 on April 17.

“A new western disturbance is expected to impact northwest India starting on April 22,” the Meteorological Department said in a report. It said, “Under its influence, scattered rainfall over Punjab between April 19 and 22 is expected, along with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds with speeds of 30 to 40 kmph.”

According to the advisory, there is a chance of isolated to scattered rainfall from April 21–25 and scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall and snowfall across Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal on April 19–20, along with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds.

IMD states that an induced cyclonic circulation is located over Pakistan and the neighboring Punjab in lower tropospheric levels, while a western disturbance in the form of a cyclonic circulation is predominant over north Pakistan and its vicinity in middle and upper tropospheric westerlies.

The present rainy spells across portions of northwest India are attributed to these meteorological systems. Various quantities of rain fell in different parts of Punjab throughout the course of the last day. On Friday night, there were also short instances of severe gusts and sharp rains.
