“The Aversion Persisted for An Extended Period”: Ellen DeGeneres Talks About Handling The Fallout From Harmful Workplace Charges

In 2020, when the world came to a complete halt due to the epidemic, Ellen DeGenres’ Emmy-winning program also collapsed. After a heated debate centered on allegations of harmful working environments, Ellen DeGeneres’ program came to an end in May of 2022. The well-known program presenter is still getting shivers from the aftermath four years later.

This week, Ellen DeGeneres returned to the comedy scene with a stand-up performance in Los Angeles where she discussed the fallout from the scandal. She made light of the way it had affected her life at the time. She apparently struggled to escape during the height of the problem, and her image was negatively impacted by the “be kind” catchphrase.

The 66-year-old comic is now speaking up about her position on the 2020 scandal in which many cast members accused Ellen DeGeneres, executives, and management of creating a hostile work environment. The Emmy-winning presenter said, “I would try to avoid looking at the news because the hate went on for a long time,” during her most recent stand-up comedy performance at the Largos in Los Angeles. The girl who said to be nice wasn’t. That was the headline. On Wednesday, April 24, she addressed the criticism once again and used her comedic flare to make her views known to the audience.

According to People, the Ellen star was having a “hard time” coping with it at the moment, despite her jokes about her response. Since Ellen DeGeneres’ name appears in the program’s title, the news affected her both emotionally and professionally. She was advised to avoid the spotlight for two years after the end of her show.

A Q&A session that followed her stand-up performance prompted the presenter to share further observations. “No… It’s difficult to dance when you’re in tears,” DeGeneres said to a fan who inquired about if she “danced” despite the criticism. “I’m laughing about what happened to me, but it was a terrible experience. I didn’t want to do anything again for a very long time,” the former American Idol judge said.

A 2020 BuzzFeed News article had anonymous quotes from many Ellen DeGeneres Show staff members who claimed to have dealt with toxic workplaces, racial microaggressions, and a lack of awareness of fundamental norms. It has been alleged that workers who took medical and bereavement absences were sacked. Employees said DeGeneres should have taken more responsibility for the internal problems, even if she was purportedly not directly involved.

According to a number of sources, Ellen DeGeneres made her comeback to the entertainment business on Wednesday night at the Largo at the Coronet Theater in Los Angeles, where she launched her last stand-up tour. Although this is her first endeavor since the conclusion of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, it’s likely her final comedy work, given the name? As of yet, we are unsure.

Following the uproar, the comedian said that she and her spouse, Portia de Rossi, were “laying low” for a while after her performance. Because of the severity of the situation, Warner Media, the parent company, was forced to conduct an internal inquiry when the NBC show’s viewership sharply declined.

The host’s official website includes her June tour dates in Los Angeles; after that, DeGeneres will be hitting the West Coast towns.
