First-time voters will get a letter of gratitude

In light of the impending Lok Sabha elections, District Election Officer-Cum-Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Aggarwal today encouraged the young to participate more in order to strengthen democracy.

Dr. Himanshu made the following statement to young people at a national seminar sponsored by SVEEP at Sant Baba Bhag Singh University: “We all should be proud members of the largest democracy in the world that gives us the opportunity to use our democratic right in a free and fair manner.”

The DEO described the younger generation, particularly those between the ages of 18 and 19, as brand ambassadors for voter awareness and said that the district administration had developed a detailed strategy to include as many individuals as possible in SVEEP events in order to meet the goal of 70% voter turnout.

The DEO praised the work done by students and young people to raise voter awareness and announced that poll workers will be sending letters of gratitude to first-time voters who cast ballots on June 1.

In addition to organizing a signature drive with the catchphrase “I will vote for sure,” he encouraged the administration and many students to promise to vote ethically.

On election day, he suggested, young people would get a 25% lunch discount if they showed their tattooed finger.

The Deputy Commissioner was earlier honored by university authorities, including Manmohan Singh, the chancellor, Dr. Dharmjit Singh, the dean of academics, Hardaman Singh, secretary of the Sant Baba Bhag Singh Memorial Charitable Society, and others.

Prior to this, university students showcased cultural events promoting moral voting in the Lok Sabha election.

Phagwara: SDM-cum-Assistant Returning Officer for Lok Sabha elections Jashanjit Singh convened a meeting of hotel, restaurant, and cinema owners on Friday to encourage people to actively participate in voting. The participants offered a 25 per cent discount on June 1 and 2 for young people voting for the first time.
