Following a fire in a residential structure in Thane, fifty electric meters were damaged; no one was hurt

Early on Monday, a fire broke out in the electric meter room of a seven-story residential building in Thane. The building’s residents immediately fled for safety, according to authorities, as reported by news agency PTI.

They said that the fire damaged fifty electric meters and that no one was hurt.

According to Yasin Tadvi, the head of Thane Municipal Corporation’s disaster management unit, the incident happened around 1.40 am in the Kausa building at the Mumbra neighborhood, as PTI reported.

According to him, the Thane residential building’s electricity supply was turned off as a precaution, and around 225 of its residents were evacuated, as reported by PTI.

According to the official, 50 electric meters and many power wires were damaged in the incident.

Local firefighters, members of the crisis management team, police, and officials of the power supply company hurried to the scene after being notified, according to PTI.

By 2:30 am, the fire had been put out. The official said that there were no casualties.

An investigation was underway to find the fire’s origin.

An electrical company official said that efforts would be made to restore the building’s power supply throughout the day, as reported by PTI.

In a different instance, an official told PTI that a worker lost his life after a fire broke out at a chemical facility in an industrial area in Maharashtra’s Thane district on Friday.

According to the official, the fire broke out inside a facility in the Domibivili MIDC region around 1:30 pm, as PTI reported.

As stated by Sudhir S. Dishing, station officer of the MIDC fire station, “five fire engines were pressed into service, and the blaze was put out by 3 pm, following which the cooling operations were undertaken.”

According to Santosh Khambe (47), a manufacturing worker, he was burned alive and his charred corpse was found on the property, as reported by PTI.

According to him, the corpse was sent to a government hospital for a post-mortem.

According to the official, the cause of the fire is yet unknown, and the police will look into the matter.
