For years, Farooq Abdullah pushed a divisive agenda: Tarun Chugh

Overseeing party activities in Jammu and Kashmir, BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh said today that the area has seen substantial growth in the last five years. Farooq Abdullah, the president of the National Conference, was “misleading the people of the Union Territory on the issue.”

According to Chugh, the Modi administration has ushered in a new phase of progress and development in Jammu & Kashmir. “The NC president had spent years promoting a divisive and anti-national political narrative, which is now being challenged by the tangible progress in the region,” Chugh remarked, implying that Farooq was having trouble accepting it.

“Over the previous seven decades, the J&K people have not benefited from the efforts of the Abdullahs, Muftis, or Congress family leaders.” In those days, it was commonplace to see murders, stone-throwing, and strikes. In addition, rather than acknowledging the atrocities previous regimes committed against the poor people of Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP is attempting to instigate the populace against the current government while claiming to be working for the welfare and well-being of the people, according to Chugh.

He said that since Article 370 was repealed, Kashmir has emerged as a new frontier of growth and opportunity, where young people can now discuss things like computers and sports instead of weapons and bullets.

People in J&K are breathing a sigh of relief, since they were under the control of dynastic parties that used regular people as war fodder. People are leading calm lives, businesses are booming, tourism has shattered all previous records, J&K is seeing an increase in foreign visitors, roads and tunnels are being built more quickly, and young people are being given possibilities for employment. The BJP has been doing this for the last five years, according to Chugh.

Regarding NC vice-president Omar Abdullah’s choice to run for the Lok Sabha from the north Kashmir constituency, Chugh said that this action was a subliminal admission of the National Conference’s declining power in the central Kashmir areas. He said that “Omar’s decision to run from north Kashmir significantly reflects on the NC’s dwindling credibility.”
