Hail Braille slip project for the blind

According to many people involved in the effort, the Braille voter information slip that was implemented in 2019 has made it possible for people with visual impairments to vote in secret, in contrast to previous periods when they needed assistance from others who could see.

Notably, in only five years, the number of visually challenged voters in Maharashtra increased from 48,000 to 1,16,518.

“We are producing voter information slips in Braille so that those with vision impairments may quietly exercise their right to vote. On this, the EC and the NAB worked together. As stated by NAB honorary secretary Vimal Kumar Dengla, “It is a great boon for the visually impaired.”

Since its founding in 1952, the NAB has worked to empower people with vision impairments and has taken action to guarantee their inclusion in society. We have been printing ballots on our biggest Braille printer to assist them in voting, said Pallav Kadam, executive director of the NAB.
