HRTC retirees threaten demonstrations during the Lok Sabha election and set an ultimatum

Himachal Road Transport Corporation retirees have claimed that their pensions and allowances have been completely withheld by the state government and HRTC management.

They threatened to protest against the government in the Lok Sabha elections if the management and the government failed to settle all of their outstanding debts by May 31, 2024. Either they will vote against the government or the retirees and their families will push the NOTA button. In the state, there are around 8,500 HRTC pensioners.

Yesterday, they met at the Mandi Vishwakarma Temple complex, with Brij Lal Thakur, the state executive president of the Pensioners Association, serving as chairman.

The meeting’s speakers said that they had not received any pension-related payments since January 1, 2016.

“After spending thousands of rupees against the 8,500 retired pensioners of the HRTC, when it was defeated, the government resorted to the High Court and the Supreme Court. The government hasn’t made the outstanding payments in spite of this, an official said.
