“If BJP wins 400 seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections,” Sam Pitroda of the Congress issues a warning

New Delhi: On Thursday, Congressman Sam Pitroda cast doubt on the reliability of electronic voting machines, claiming that if the equipment are not “fixed,” the BJP would win 400 seats in the general elections of 2024. Additionally, he said that his comments against the Ram Temple were “twisted”.

Pitroda, a technocrat who the Congress believes is largely responsible for India’s telecom revolution, said that altering the VVPAT system’s existing architecture was the primary suggestion of an NGO run by retired Supreme Court judge Madan Lokur.

“I decided to speak after waiting for a response from the Election Commission. The fact that the 2024 election is approaching and five states have concluded their elections has no bearing on this matter. This information has led me to believe that there is a lack of trust. In order to restore confidence, the Election Commission must act, he said.

He said that if the EVMs are not manipulated, the BJP may be able to surpass the 400-mark.

“If they believe they can succeed, then more power to them. Fantastic. The nation must make that decision. Before the next election, the EVM has to be corrected. If 400 is true, then EVM is not fixed. 400 may not be true if EVM is fixed,” he said to PTI.

The opposition’s claims that electronic voting machines (EVMs) were manipulated in favor of the BJP, India’s most successful political party since 2014, were rejected by the Election Commission.

Voters must get all Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) slips, according to demands made by Congress and other political parties.

Over 350 seats were won by the BJP-led NDA in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. By 2024, the alliance hopes to surpass 400 members. It has just won assembly elections in three states in the heartland of Hindi.

Ram Temple with Sam Pitroda
“My remarks on the Ram mandir were misconstrued. In essence, I am defending the Constitution. I’m arguing that religion is a highly personal issue; let the people decide. Of course you rejoice; everyone has the right to celebrate whatever they want. But don’t make things more complicated with politics,” he remarked in response to his comments on the Ram Temple, according to PTI.

Pitroda said on Wednesday that politics and religion shouldn’t be combined.

I don’t have any issues with any religion. You can’t make the temple your regular location, although it’s OK to go there sometimes. Sixty percent of voters do not support the BJP, whereas forty percent of voters support it. The people of India want him to convey that he is the prime minister of everyone, not just one political party. Discuss jobs, inflation, difficulties in science and technology, and technology. It is up to them (the people) to determine what the true problems are. Is Ram Mandir the main one? Or the problem of unemployment is genuine. Is there a real problem with Ram Mandir or is it just inflation? He informed ANI.

The BJP objected to his statement.

“This is Sam Pitroda, Rahul Gandhi’s mentor.” Much of it reflects Rahul Gandhi’s belief that Hindutva is irrelevant. Appeasement makes terrorism irrelevant. Crony capitalism makes corruption and inflation irrelevant. Rajeev Chandrashekhar, a BJP MP, said on Wednesday that the appeasement policies of the government make the Hindu religion irrelevant.
