IIM Mumbai will use the CAT 2023 score for MBA admission

The Common Admission Test (CAT) results will be used by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Mumbai to determine who gets in. For admission to the Master of Business Administration (MBA), MBA in Operations and Supply Chain Management, and MBA in Sustainability Management programs, it will accept CAT 2023 results.

On the official website iimmumbai.ac.in, the application procedure and forms will be released individually for these programs. The National Institute of Industrial Engineering, often known as NITIE, has changed its name to IIM Mumbai after being designated as the 21st IIM under the IIM Amendment Act 2023.

The Indian Institutes of Management Act 2017 was replaced on August 8 by the Indian Institutes of Management (Amendment) Bill 2023, which was approved by both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. With the nomination of the President of India as a visitor to these institutions, the bill, sponsored by the Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan, attempts to restrict the autonomy of IIMs.

The CAT 2023 registration procedure is presently in progress. IIM Lucknow is hosting the entrance test this year for enrollment in a variety of management programs offered by IIMs and other reputable institutions. By September 13, candidates may sign up online for CAT 2023 at the official website, iimcat.ac.in. The results of the CAT 2023 test should be made public in the second week of January 2024. The exam is planned to take place on November 26.

IIM Lucknow has increased the number of places where the test would be administered to 155 this year. In contrast, 150 locations hosted the test last year. Up to six cities of their choice may be chosen by candidates for the test. The three-hour CAT test is divided into three primary sections: verbal aptitude and reading comprehension; data interpretation and logical thinking; and numeric aptitude.

Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree with at least 50% of the requisite marks, or an equivalent CGPA, according the CAT 2023 notice. The minimum mark criterion for applicants who fall under the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) categories is 45%. A university that has been granted approval by the University Grants Commission (UGC) shall issue these grades.

From 2.3 lakh in 2021, CAT applications increased by around 11% in 2018. 2.28 lakh people submitted CAT applications in 2020. Three distinct sessions of the computer-based exam were conducted on November 27, 2022.
