In Amritsar, garbage piles continue to burn without interruption

The burning of rubbish piles in the city is an unlawful activity that persists despite efforts to curb pollution by the National Green Tribunal and other government organizations. Today, in the middle of the day, a large pile of trash at the trash collection location next to the bypass route was set on fire.

To get rid of crop leftovers, some members of the agricultural community will undoubtedly burn it during the current wheat harvesting season. Waste burning incidents would demonstrate that the government primarily cares about pollution in rural areas, not in urban areas.

Ram Singh, a local, said, “Critics argue that the government’s action against farmers for burning crop residue paints the latter in a negative light even though other sources cause the majority of the pollution.” In order to enhance the quality of the air, he stressed that no one who causes pollution should be spared.

Trash must be separated at the place of generation and then transported to trash management facilities in accordance with solid waste management standards. Nevertheless, garbage that has been gathered from residences and businesses is often transported to a location close to Ranjit Avenue and set ablaze.
