RS ticket for Sarfaraz Ahmad, who left because of Soren’s wife

For the Rajya Sabha elections, JMM has selected Sarfaraz Ahmad’s name. The Gandey Assembly Constituency’s previous MLA, Ahmad, withdrew from the Assembly on December 31, presumably to make room for Kalpana Soren, the wife of former Chief Minister Hemant Soren, to run for the seat.

In the meanwhile, State BJP General Secretary Dr. Pradeep Verma has been nominated by the Central Election Committee as the party’s candidate for the next Rajya Sabha elections, which are set for March 21 in the state.

Dr. Pradeep Verma’s candidacy for the Rajya Sabha elections in Jharkhand in 2024 has been authorized by the Central Election Commission of the party, as per the announcement released by Arun Singh, the BJP National General Secretary and interim HQ in-charge. Gandey Assembly seat given to JMM in the Jharkhand Assembly seat allocation for the 2019 elections held by the Congress-Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-RJD coalition.

After leaving Congress to join the JMM, Sarfaraz Ahmad was chosen as the party’s candidate from Gandey.

Sarfaraz has been involved in politics for the last fifty years and has held a number of congressional posts. It is now fairly certain that these two candidates would win the polls after their names were announced.

In the 81-member Jharkhand Assembly, the NDA enjoys the backing of at least 31 lawmakers, while the Congress-JMM-RJD combination has 47 MLAs.

BJP nominee

JMM has suggested Sarfaraz Ahmad, a former MLA. Pradeep Verma has been nominated by the BJP to represent the party in the elections set for March 21.
