In the meanwhile, police said that a landslide early on Friday morning in the State’s Solan district forced the closure of the Shimla-Kalka route on National Highway-5.

After a week, this route was reopened on Thursday. Over 200 roads are still blocked, according to Himachal Pradesh’s Minister of Revenue and Horticulture, Jagat Singh Negi, and repair work is under progress.

“The Kalka-Shimla road was also shut last night owing to the severe rain, but repairs are already being made, and light cars may again use it. Over 200 highways in the state are blocked, and restoration efforts are in progress. Additionally, over 200 electrical supply networks have been chamfered. Our cops and teams are out there,” Negi added.

A yellow signal was issued yesterday by the regional meteorological service in Shimla for possible light to moderate rain and thunder in several areas of Himachal Pradesh.
