In MHA, a little fire breaks out; no damage is recorded

According to a fire department spokesman, there was a small fire at the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) office in the north block on Tuesday. The staff put out the fire in 13 minutes.

A Delhi Fire Service (DFS) official provided information, stating that at 9:22 am, they got a report about a fire on the second floor of the IC Division in the MHA headquarters. Immediately, seven fire tenders were sent to the scene. By 9:35 a.m., the fire was swiftly put out by the fire crew, the officer said. According to him, a xerox machine caught fire, which then spread to a few PCs and papers.

The Department of Personnel and Training’s International Cooperation Division is housed in Room 209 of North Block. The MHA said in a statement that a fire had broken out there. There have been no reported injuries. According to the ministry, a short circuit in the electrical equipment seems to be the source of the incident. No physical documents were harmed.
