In Patiala, stones were discovered in wheat sacks; the arhtiya license was revoked
Following the discovery of stones in wheat sacks purchased by the procurement agency, the district administration suspended the commission agent’s license for a period of fifteen days.
The issue gained attention when workers for the government procurement agency discovered 200 wheat sacks with 2 kg of stones each among the grain. An inspection video has also become popular.
After anomalies were discovered during the inspection, the M/S Maini Trading Company, Ghagga, license has been stopped for 15 days, according to Ravinder Singh, SDM-cum-Managing Director, Market Committee, Pattran.
He said that various requirements of the license acquired under Section 10 of the Punjab Agricultural Produce Markets Act had been violated by the arhtiya.
The SDM also said that a report and the inspection footage had been sent to the higher authorities. Workers are heard on the video complaining that they received payments to be silent.
