In Telangana, DCA detains three quacks and confiscates stock valued at Rs 2.56 lakhs

On Thursday and Friday, the Drug Control Administration (DCA) raided a few quack shops, took three people into custody in separate instances, and confiscated goods valued at Rs 2.56 lakh.

During the searches, a number of antibiotics of a higher generation were also discovered at the clinics. They stated that the public’s health could suffer greatly from the careless sale of antibiotics by unqualified individuals, and that this could lead to the development of “Antimicrobial Resistance” (AMR), a condition in which bacteria, viruses, fungi, parasites, and other microorganisms cease responding to antimicrobial drugs.

According to the authorities, steroids—which have a terrible effect on the immune system, hormone imbalances, and physical weakness—were also seized from quack clinics.

In a case involving Vepur village, Hanwada mandal, Mahabubnagar, the authorities detained B Venkata Swamy and confiscated commodities from his clinic valued at Rs one lakh.

The DCA discovered 12 different types of physician samples and 36 different types of medications, 10 of which were expired.

A guy named Chintakindi Yadagiri was detained in Suryapet for having commodities valued at Rs 56,000.

Another individual, named as Annapureddy Rajalakshmi, was apprehended in Hyderabad with goods valued at Rs one lakh.
