On the journey to Chhattisgarh, a lone elephant slaughtered five peasants

Nagpur: The lone tusker, ME3, from Gadchiroli, which killed five people in different events last month, was traced 2 km from the border with Chhattisgarh, close to Parambhatti. The elephant entered the tribal district and seems to be moving toward the adjacent state.

On April 25, in the Bhamragarh division’s Gatta forest area, an elephant ran down farmer Gonglu Telami.

Mahari Devi Wadde and Raje Koppa Alami are the ladies who passed away from their wounds, according to forest authorities. Vanje Pungati, the third casualty, is in stable condition.

The elephant’s erratic conduct continues to be a serious menace, and the assaults have made the locals fearful.

The elephant has previously caused similar incidents in the neighboring state of Telangana, trampling two people on April 3 and 4.

Although the ME3’s violent behavior has been concerning, deputy conservator (DyCF) Shailesh Meena of Bhamragarh said that the animal cannot be classified as a problem. We have our eye on the tusker. The latest track record was made close to the border of Chhattisgarh, around Parambhatti. For the last 24 hours, no sign of the animal has been found.

Meena said that four weeks ago, the tusker was first seen in Mulchera, Allapalli. Later on, once it had crossed into Telangana, it assaulted two farmers in Sironcha. It went to Bhamragarh and then back to Allapalli.

It could be in route to Chhattisgarh. Every day, the tusker travels 40 kilometers. Driving the elephant back into the forest is one of the methods we are thinking about using to keep it out of inhabited areas, Meena added.

It is urged that villagers be alert and stay away from locations where the elephant has been seen.
