India’s Indigenous Defense Capabilities will Be Displayed at Bharat Shakti Today Thanks to Mission Divyastra

The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has tested the Agni-5 ballistic missile using Multiple Independently Targetable Reentry Vehicle (MIRV) technology at a time when India is concentrating on Atmanirbharta in the defense industry. With congrats to the experts of DRDO, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made this announcement on Monday.

The declaration was made the day before India’s indigenous skills would be on display at the Bharat Shakti event on Tuesday. All three armies’ indigenous platforms and equipment will be shown in this massive display.

The most recent test is special since it uses MIRV, even though DRDO has tested the Agni-5 missile in the past and is now developing the Agni-6. India has now passed the exam and joined the exclusive group of countries possessing this technology.

The female-led enterprise was dubbed Mission Divyastra by the Prime Minister.

MIRV: WHAT IS IT?
A single warhead is carried by a standard ballistic missile. It implies that it can only strike a single target after being discharged. The missile may, however, carry several warheads contained in different reentry vehicles when using MIRV.

The guiding mechanisms on these reentry vehicles let the warhead to travel on several trajectories, increasing its effect. According to experts, it may be used for both the same and distinct targets, depending on the necessity and effect.

Technology Testing in Pakistan
Although there have been some unverified rumors that Pakistan tested the technology successfully in 2017, experts claim the country has not yet accomplished this.

Moreover, China is the only nation that can use MIRV, along with the US, UK, France, and Russia.

POKHRAN WILL SEE A MASSIVE CAPABILITY EVENT
Conversely, the three armies will conduct the largest-ever drill using indigenous equipment at Pokhran. The Indian Army reports that all three troops’ native equipment would be used in the event.

The 50-minute mega event will have a significant presence from the Prime Minister.

“There will be integrated special operations where MARCOS from the Indian Navy, Garuds of the Indian Air Force, and Para SF Commandos of the Indian Army will take part,” said Major General CS Mann, ADG, Army Design Bureau (ADB).

The naval element exercise will include a maritime component that will be live-broadcast in Pokhran. There will also be a stationary exhibit of platforms and equipment during the event.

The officer went on to list the platforms that would be shown at Exercise Bharat Shakti: LCA Tejas, ALH Mk-IV, mobile anti-drone system, T90 tanks, Dhanush, K9 Vajra, Nag, and Pinaka.
