Inspector suspended after CBI arrest

Inspector Balwant Singh, the SHO of the Cyber Crime Police Station in Yamunanagar, has been suspended by the police department, and disciplinary actions within the department have been taken against him.

Three people, including Inspector Balwant Singh, were taken into custody by a CBI team on April 23 in relation to the payment of a Rs 5 lakh bribe.

On April 23, a case was filed in Chandigarh under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act against Balwant in response to a complaint made by Sukhjit Singh.

The complainant claimed that Balwant had threatened to use his name in a fictitious police report. He said, “He told me that the only way I could be spared was if I paid him Rs 40 lakh.”

A trap was set, and the inspector’s bribe of two accused was discovered.
