Jalandhar: Vikramjit Chaudhary keeps criticizing Charanjit Channi and threatens to label him a “outsider.”

Following the declaration of former chief minister Charanjit S. Channi as the party’s nominee for the Jalandhar Lok Sabha seat, a verbal sparring match broke out between Congress MLA Pargat Singh of the Jalandhar Cantonment and MLA Vikramjit S. Chaudhary of Phillaur.

According to a declaration made by Pargat Singh, Phillaur MLA Vikramjit Chaudhary ought to back Channi. In response, Chaudhary said that Pargat now bore the responsibility for Channi’s success and that he would watch to see whether he could lead Channi to the victory platform on June 4.

In an attempt to defend his claim, Pargat said, “The party had decided on Channi’s candidature based on winnability assessment.” Vikramjit should set aside his argument and back Channi now that the party has formally proclaimed him.

However, Vikramjit is still certain that he should have received a party ticket in exchange for his family receiving credit for the 98 years that his family has been serving the party. Additionally, he has attacked Channi, claiming that he would have to deal with being labeled as a “outsider.” Vikramjit informed the reporters that ups and downs are a part of public life, adding, “Even though my deceased father Santokh Singh Chaudhary was an MP from Jalandhar for nine years, even I did not know that Channi’s ancestral village was in Jalandhar as claimed by him yesterday.”

In the meantime, Channi had said yesterday that he was sure he would have Chaudhary’s backing. The other four Jalandhar MLAs and the three halqa in-charges who back Channi also insist that Chaudhary and Channi will be seen together shortly. They said, “It is only a matter of days.”
