Murmu Visits Odisha for Three Days

When President Droupadi Murmu arrived in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday, the day she finished her first year in office, she was greeted with a thunderous welcome.

At the airport and throughout the route she travelled to get to Raj Bhavan, folk musicians played.

At the airport, Murmu was welcomed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Governor Ganeshi Lal when she arrived for a three-day visit to her home state.

The president will fly to Cuttack on Wednesday. While there, she would visit the ‘Utkal Gourab’ Madhusudan Das’ house and pay floral homage to his monument. She will also offer prayers at the Chandi Temple.

She will also go to the Netaji Museum and the birthplace of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.

On Wednesday, Murmu is expected to speak at the SCB Medical College and Hospital’s annual meeting and attend the valedictory ceremony for the Orissa High Court’s 75th anniversary festivities in Cuttack. On the same day, she would also be a part of the National Law University of Odisha’s convocation.

The president will engage with members of especially vulnerable tribal communities at the Raj Bhavan on Thursday before traveling back to Delhi.

She will also lay the cornerstone for the lighthouse complex at Dasabatia, Bhubaneswar’s Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya, whose theme for 2023 is “The Year of Positive Change.”

Extensive security precautions have been taken in the twin towns for the visit, according to Bhubaneswar DCP Pratik Singh.

Murmu has been to Odisha three times since taking office as the nation’s top official on July 25, 2022.
