The Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) regulations notice is a political and ideological declaration from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), as the government of Narendra Modi is going into the 2024 Lok Sabha elections with the claim that it has kept all three of its major pledges during its two terms in office.

He said that while states may declare they would not carry out the CAA, the final decision over citizenship petitions will be made by an authorized committee, limiting the influence of the states. “The Center will ensure that the California Appropriations Act is efficiently carried out and that no individual who qualifies for the law’s benefits is refused citizenship,” he said.
