Karnataka: Bus crashes into group of students, leaving one dead and four injured

In a horrifying event, a speeding private bus slammed into a group of students waiting to board it beneath a tree in the Chikkamagaluru district of Karnataka on Thursday, killing one girl and critically injuring four others.

The event happened at Sitapura Kaval Duglapura Gate in the district, close to Tarikere town. Tulasi, a Class 8 student who was 14 years old, was recognized as the dead girl.

She was taken to a hospital in Shivamogga right away, but she passed away from her wounds. Another student, Niveditha, 14, was in serious condition. According to authorities, the wounded were receiving care at the Meggan Hospital.

Five further youngsters managed to avoid being driven over by a whisker, according to eyewitnesses.

According to the first investigations, the collision was caused by hasty and careless driving, and the bus driver fled the scene.

The bus struck and killed the schoolchildren before colliding with a home along the road, breaking its roof.

The act incited indignation among the locals, who threw rocks at the bus in response. They also voiced their outrage at the government for doing nothing despite constant warnings to the reckless and hazardous driving by private bus operators.

MDS & Sons is the owner of the deluxe bus. The driver should have stopped near the kids so they could get on, but instead, he ran them over. Additional research is being done.
