Karnataka will abandon NEP and release a new education plan for the state, according to deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar

The state of Karnataka has opted to cancel the current National Education Policy that was put in place by the Bharatiya Janata Party-led administration and develop a new education policy for the state in the next year, according to an announcement made on Monday by DK Shivakumar, the state’s deputy chief minister.

According to Shivakumar, the National Education Policy of 2021 would no longer be used in Karnataka after a meeting on Monday with vice chancellors and other academics.

Shivakumar further said that Karnataka has a solid foundation of educational institutions and people resources, which would be used to create an education strategy for their own state.

Shivakumar said, “We will develop our education strategy starting in the next academic year. Within a week, a committee will be established.

Karnataka was the first state in the nation to adopt the National Education Policy in 2021 when the BJP was in power.
