Kharif 2023–2024: More than 8 lakh farmers provide the UP government with 53.79 lakh MT of paddy

Over eight lakh farmers in Uttar Pradesh have benefited from the seamless progress of the paddy procurement during the Kharif Marketing Season 2023–2024, with an MSP value of Rs 11,745 crore.

According to authorities here on Saturday, more over 53.79 lakh metric tons of paddy have been purchased for KMS 2023–2024.

Notably, Rs 2,183 per quintal for ordinary paddy and Rs 2,203 per quintal for Grade A paddy was the minimum support price imposed by the government.

The Lucknow division was the largest buyer, having acquired more than 7.52 lakh metric tons of paddy. With 6.49 lakh metric tons of paddy acquired, the Bareilly division took second place. Varanasi division, with over 6.18 lakh metric tonnes of paddy purchased, was next in line.

Furthermore, purchase from more than one lakh farmers was documented in the divisions of Ayodhya and Lucknow.

Furthermore, the divisions of Gorakhpur (5.09 lakh MT), Ayodhya (5.78 lakh MT), Moradabad (4.61 lakh MT), Prayagraj (4.53 lakh MT), Devipatan (3.38 lakh MT), Basti (2.89 lakh MT), Mirzapur (2.68 lakh MT), and Azamgarh (2.12 lakh MT) procured the MTs. Additionally, the Chitrakoot Dham division bought over 42,000 MT of paddy in Uttar Pradesh, while the Kanpur division acquired 1.81 lakh MT.

A large number of farmers from all around the state participated in the acquisition of paddy because of the Yogi government’s strong assistance for farmers. Notably, with a total of 1,05,925, the greatest number of purchases came from farmers in the Lucknow region. Similarly, the effort helped 90,145 farmers in Varanasi, 91,409 farmers in Gorakhpur, and 1,02,908 farmers in Ayodhya.

79,960 farmers in Bareilly, 78,933 in Prayagraj, 54,604 in Moradabad, 47,242 in Devipatan, 40,831 in Mirzapur, 38,079 in Azamgarh, 36,252 in Basti, 24,035 in Kanpur, and 7,650 in Chitrakoot were among the other divisions where notable purchases were made. In all, 8,01,624 farmers from 5,207 locations in Eastern and Western Uttar Pradesh provided paddy for the purchase.
