Lok Sabha elections 2024: To finalize the first list of candidates, the BJP convenes a crucial CEC meeting

To finalize the first list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections of 2024, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Central Election Committee met on Thursday at the party headquarters in Delhi.

Attending the meeting were chief ministers from BJP-ruled states, JP Nadda, the national president of the party, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Meeting attendees included chief ministers from Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Goa, and Vishnu Deo Sai. Yogi Adityanath, chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, and Bhupendra Patel, chief minister of Gujarat, were also present.

In an attempt to allow them adequate time for campaigning, sources claim that candidates in seats where the BJP is relatively weaker—including at least two South Indian states—will be named in the first list.

According to the sources, candidates for Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand would also be considered.

The top three candidates for each seat are reportedly chosen by the BJP, and the ultimate choice will be made taking into account each candidate’s likelihood of winning.

PM Modi met separately at his house with Amit Shah, the home minister, and JP Nadda, the head of the BJP, before to the CEC meeting.

PM Modi set targets for the NDA and the BJP separately of 400 and 370. In order to reach the very ambitious goal of winning 370 seats in the next Lok Sabha elections, he has urged BJP activists to cast at least 370 more votes in each booth than they did the previous time around.
