LS polls: Tej Pratap, Akhilesh Yadav’s nephew, to run from Kannauj

Following great anticipation, the Samajwadi Party on Monday declared Tej Pratap Yadav as the nominee for the Kannauj Lok Sabha constituency. Akhilesh Yadav, the party chairman, and his spouse Dimple had previously held this seat.

There had been earlier rumors that Akhilesh Yadav might run from this seat, but that never materialized.

In addition to Kannauj, the party also declared Sanatan Pandey as its candidate for the Ballia seat on Monday.

In addition to being Akhilesh Yadav’s nephew, Tej Pratap is the son-in-law of RJD chairman Lalu Prasad Yadav. He was a former MP from Mainpuri. Raj Laxmi Yadav, Lalu’s daughter, is his spouse.

From 2014 until 2019, he served as Mainpuri MP.

Tej Pratap’s name was also put up to run for the Rampur seat.

The Yadav family is now running for Lok Sabha seats in Mainpuri, Azamgarh, Badaun, and Ferozabad in addition to Tej Pratap.
