Maha had the lowest second-phase voting participation, with 59.6%

Nagpur: Maharashtra’s second round of voting saw a sharp decline in voter participation, with Vidarbha seeing an 8% decline from the Lok Sabha elections in 2019. As of 11 p.m., the total voting percentage across five Vidarbha seats and three Marathwada constituencies was only 59.6%, which was the lowest turnout in the nation on Friday. With 48 seats, Maharashtra is the second-largest electoral state. Three additional rounds of voting are scheduled to take place from May 7 to May 20.

The turnout in the five seats of Vidarbha, namely Akola, Buldhana, Amravati, Yavatmal-Washim, and Wardha, was 53.97% until 5 pm, which is a notable decrease from the last two elections.

The average turnout was 61.44% in 2019, compared to 61.16% in 2014. This is a decrease of 7.61% from 2019 and 7.19% from 2014.

Maha had the lowest second-phase voting participation, with 59.6%.
West Vidarbha’s lower attendance was partly caused by the scorching heat and glitches in the Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) and EVM machines, continuing the pattern seen in the eastern half of the province.
